Change of use from a squat to four contemporary apartments.

project description

Featured on ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ this was of the most challenging properties to survey as it was in the dark! This beautiful Georgian four storey building was originally classed as an office block but once abandoned it then became a squat. Due to this all the windows were boarded up and the garden became a jungle.

Planning consent was granted and the property was saved by SPD Property Ltd who transformed the property to a very high standard into four high end contemporary residential apartments. One 2 x bedroom apartment and three 1 x bedroom apartments. The ground floor apartment is by far the largest and boasts a large private garden with a newly built out-building. This floor was extended to create open plan living space with a kitchen, dining area and lounge. To comply with building regulations we had to create an atrium which provided both light and ventilation to one of the bedrooms, this becomes an interesting architectural feature in the room.
